MacBook Air keyboard repair in San Diego

MacBook Air Keyboard Replacement

Sticky keys, keys that do not register, double-typing, or a spacebar that only works when you press the left side. The 2018-2019 MacBook Air butterfly keyboard was Apple's worst keyboard design -- and we have replaced hundreds of them. Newer MacBook Airs (M1+) use the scissor-switch Magic Keyboard, which is more reliable but still breakable.

  • Butterfly keyboard replacement (2018-2019 models)
  • Magic Keyboard repair (M1+ models)
  • Individual key cap replacement when possible
  • Full keyboard function tested before return

  • Battery swelling check (common cause of trackpad failure)
  • Full click, gesture, and Force Touch tested post-repair

For uncertain problems

When the MacBook Air is acting weird, stop guessing.

A MacBook Air that will not turn on could be the battery, the charging cable, the MagSafe port, the logic board, or a software problem. A screen that flickers could be the display, the cable, or liquid damage underneath. Keys that stop working could be dust, the butterfly mechanism, or a liquid spill you forgot about. Stop guessing -- guessing costs money. Walk it in, get it diagnosed for free, and then decide with a real answer.

Not sure what is wrong with your MacBook Air?

Karen was extremely helpful with my phone issues! My phone was not turning on and I had taken it to the Apple Store but they said they couldn’t do anything about it. I brought it to Indiana phones and after a few tests, the issue seemed to be something bigger. They had to replace a major part of my phone but after a few days I had it back working great!

I’ve been going to Nicholas for phone repairs for years—back when he had a little kiosk by In-N-Out. His shop has been around for a long time now, and he’s always provided the same great service. Nicholas and his team are friendly, honest, and really know their stuff. They’ve fixed every issue I’ve ever brought in, always explained things clearly, and charged a fair price. Everyone I’ve sent to him has told me the same thing—he takes care of people. Highly recommend!

We saw the name and had to stop in! Other places will charge you to open the phone, but Nicholas was willing to see the damage before a quote.

Really great service, he explains everything to you, and his passion for the work shows. Come support this local veteran owned business in Pacific Beech.

We found an iphone 14 pro max on the beach on memorial day and brought it in to see if we could repair it and find the owner! Thanks Nicholas for being able to look at it, greatly appreciate it, we will update if we find the owner!

FAQ

Straight answers to MacBook Air questions we get at the counter.

How much does MacBook Air screen replacement cost?

Pricing depends on your MacBook Air model, year, and screen size. The 13-inch and 15-inch use different display assemblies, and older Retina displays cost differently from newer Liquid Retina panels. We diagnose for free and give you an upfront quote before any work starts. Call (619) 577-3065 or walk in to 1630 Grand Ave.

How long does MacBook Air repair take?

Most MacBook Air screen replacements and battery swaps are done same-day. Keyboard replacements on butterfly models can take same-day to next day depending on the extent of the damage. Water damage diagnostics take 1-2 hours because we want to be thorough.

Is it worth repairing a MacBook Air or buying new?

A new MacBook Air costs $1,099 to $1,499 before tax. Most repairs cost a fraction of that, and your MacBook keeps all its files, apps, and settings. M1 and newer MacBook Airs are absolutely worth repairing -- those chips will be supported for years. Walk in for a free diagnostic and an honest opinion.

Do you fix the butterfly keyboard on MacBook Air?

Yes. The 2018-2019 MacBook Air uses the butterfly keyboard mechanism that Apple eventually abandoned because of reliability problems. We have replaced hundreds of them. If your keys are sticking, not registering, or double-typing, bring it in -- we diagnose for free and can usually have it repaired same-day.
